MFM GENRES

Musical genres have been breeding at an alarming rate. In the early 70s, at the advent of FM radio and cassette-tape usage, the list was pretty slim: Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Classical, and the very few derivations of those roots.

Soon every band will be its own genre. "Electric Monkey Yowl" will be a category because it just describes the music. Each song might have its own sonic-twisting subgenre, each listener will have a list of "keywords," and when they jack into the audio mainframe of their home’s entertainment center, they’ll get songs that match the keywords. Every band, album, and song will be coded with as many sets of keywords as they can get away with to make sure the song is delivered to as many ports as possible.
